5 Best TVs for a Garage Gym 2024 (All Budgets)

The TV has now officially replaced the boombox that many of us grew up with as the media center of a garage gym.

Long gone are the days when a TV needed to be hooked up to cable to be functional. Heck, we haven’t had actual cable in our house for almost a decade.

Want to listen to Spotify or Pandora? A TV can do that.

Want to watch the game? A TV can do that.

Want to watch Metallica jam out live in Sweden or Lasha Talakhadze lift ridiculous amounts of weight at the World Championships? Yep, a TV can do that too.

The point is, you should definitely have a TV in your garage gym. And that’s probably why you’re here anyway, right?

So, let’s get to it!

Best TVs for a Garage Gym

You’re not going to be using your gym TV to sit down with a bag of popcorn and watch the newest Marvel movie. It’s generally going to be playing music or a game in the background.

So, you don’t necessarily need the top-of-the-line 8K TV. The two places where you want to spend your money are on the size and the convenience of its Smart TV capability.

Sure, you could buy a non-Smart TV and buy a Roku Stick separately. We have Roku Sticks all over our house. However, getting a Smart TV will save you from having to have an extra remote and syncing issues that you’re bound to run into now and again.

However, no matter what your needs are, whether it’s size, picture quality or straight budget – one of these five TVs I’ve put together for you in this article should fit every different situation.

With all that in mind, here are my picks for the Best TVs for a Garage Gym.

Best Budget Smart TV

TCL 32″ 720p

Best Smart TV (Roku Built In) for the Price

Best Value 4K TV

TCL 43″ Class 4-Series 4K

Best Picture Quality for the Price

Best Big Screen

Toshiba 65″ 4K

Best Big Screen for the Price

Now let’s take a look at each TV individually.

Best Budget Smart TV

TCL 32-inch 3-Series 720p Roku Smart TV

my top pick

TCL 32″ 3-series 720p Roku Smart TV

  • Brand: TCL
  • Size: 32″
  • Resolution: 720p
  • Smart TV?: Yes

The TCL 32″ Roku Smart TV is the best budget-friendly Smart TV you can buy.

Yes, you can get bigger and better TVs and if you have the budget and desire, go for it. But, this TV is plenty big enough for most garage gyms and the built-in Roku player makes it convenient to stream anything you want.

If what you want is a good sized TV, with Roku already built into it ready to go – then this TCL 32-inch TV is your best option.

TCL is not exactly Vizio, but it’s a very popular brand that you’ll find in most big box stores like Wal-Mart, Target and we have a link for it to Amazon. It’s not some random brand that you can only find on the internet and is being shipped from who knows where.

The picture quality is 720p HD on this model. Once upon a time 720p and 1080p were the cutting edge and what we referred to as “High Definition” or HD. These TVs are actually a little hard to come by now as the new “standard” is 4K.

However, a 720p in my opinion is still going to work great for a garage gym TV.

With Roku built into the TV, you’re getting added convenience and saving around $40 from having to be a Roku stick separately.

One more cool feature that using the ROKU app allows you to do is private listening.

So if you’re working out early morning and don’t want to wake up everyone else in the house, you can connect your TV with your app on your phone and then use headphones connected to your phone to enjoy what they call ‘Private Listening’. Pretty cool little feature that can come in really handy.

  • Can be controlled with the ROKU App

Best Picture Quality for Price

TCL 43-inch Class 4-Series 4K UHD HDR Smart Android TV

best budget 4k tv

TCL 43″ 4K Smart TV

  • Brand: TCL
  • Size: 43″
  • Resolution / Refresh Rate: 4K UHD / 60Hz
  • Smart TV?: Yes

This TCL 43″ 4K Smart TV is perfect if you want a high-quality picture without breaking the bank.

Looking for great picture quality and still staying within your budget? This is the second TCL TV on this list and for good reason. TCL makes quality budget-friendly TVs that hold up well and consistently get great reviews. Perfect for a garage gym TV.

We actually had a TCL TV as our main TV in our living room for years and I never had any complaints at all. In fact, we still use that same TV in our bedroom now.

This TV comes with 4K Ultra High Def (UHD) resolution. 4K is now becoming the standard in picture quality for TVs and it is a noticeable improvement if you’re still used to the 720p or 1080p HD TVs.

Similar to the other TCL, this unit is a Smart Android TV as well so you’ll be able to stream everything from Netflix to ESPN right through the TV.

Best Bang for the Buck Big Screen (65″+) TV

Toshiba 65-inch 75C350KU C350 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV

Best budget big screen

Toshiba 65″ 4K Smart Fire TV

  • Brand: Toshiba
  • Size: 65″
  • Resolution: 4K UHD
  • Refresh Rate: 60Hz
  • Smart TV?: Yes

Looking for a budget-friendly big screen? This Toshiba 65″ TV is your best option.

Just cause you may not need a giant TV in your garage gym, doesn’t mean a big-screen TV won’t look awesome.

If you are looking for something big, say over 60″, but without breaking the bank – this Toshiba is a perfect fit.

This Toshiba is 4K UHD and the picture quality looks great. All 65″ of it!

The first two TVs we mentioned had Roku already built-in while this Toshiba is setup with Fire TV. Both are great for accessing all your favorite streaming options.

This TV will make a statement in any garage and if you do want to fire up the grill and have some friends hang out in the garage to watch the game – THIS is a great TV for that.

Best Budget on a Budget TV (Not Smart)

Sceptre 32″ Class 720P HD LED TV

cheapest option available

Sceptre 32″ HD TV

  • Brand: Sceptre
  • Size: 32″
  • Resolution: 720p
  • Refresh Rate: 60Hz
  • Smart TV?: No

If you simply need to get the cheapest option available (that’s still a decent size), then check out this 32″ Sceptre. It’s not a smart TV, but if you already have a streaming stick you can make this TV work.

My first strength coaching job paid me $212.87 every two weeks. So, trust me when I say I get it if your question is – “What’s the cheapest TV I can get that’s not going to crap out on me in 6 months?” Many of us don’t have a lot of discretionary funds allotted to put TVs in our garage.

Well, here is your answer.

Wal-Mart has a Sceptre 32″ TV (not a smart TV so you’ll need a Roku Stick, old-school Cable or something similar to play video) that is going to be your best bet.

Sceptre isn’t Sony or Samsung and you may have never even heard of the company, but they are actually Wal-Mart’s best-selling brand of TV and they’ve always gotten great reviews over the years for their value.

Best ‘No Budget Necessary’ Smart TV

Samsung Flat 75-Inch QLED 8K Q900 Series Ultra HD Smart TV

best of the best

Samsung 75″ QLED 8K

  • Brand: Samsung
  • Size: 75″
  • Resolution: 8K
  • Refresh Rate: 240Hz
  • Smart TV?: Yes

If you’re lucky enough to not have to worry about a budget and just want the best possible TV you can – check out this ridiculous 75″ 8K TV.

If you jump into a money vault full of gold coins each night like Uncle Scrooge, then kudos to you, it’s time to treat yourself!

I went perusing through the internet to try to find the TV I would buy if I didn’t have to pay any attention to the price tag attached to it.

The one I decided on was the QLED 8k TV from Samsung. I don’t know if you’ve been in a Best Buy lately and had a chance to see some of these new 8K TVs, but they are mind-blowing. Somehow it feels like the color quality coming through the TV is even better than in real life.

And at 75″, it’s big enough to make a statement in any garage without being obnoxious.

If you’re in a position to buy whatever you want, this is the TV you want.

MORE EXTRAS:

  • Supported Internet Services: Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube, Browser
  • Connection Technology: Wireless, Bluetooth, USB, HDMI

Final Thoughts

I’m what most would consider pretty old school when it comes to my garage gym. I stay pretty basic with all of my equipment – a squat rack, barbells and plates were pretty much all I had for about the first six months.

So, the idea of having a TV for my garage gym seemed… unnecessary.

However, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made so far. The convenience of playing music or throwing on a game and having something to distract me for 30 seconds in between a set has been awesome.

If you haven’t yet pulled the trigger on a TV for your garage gym, I highly recommend doing so and depending on your situation I think any of the 5 TVs I’ve put together for you here could be a great fit.
