I’ve been a collegiate sports performance coach for 20 years. One thing I always felt was effective was showing guys the heights and weights of players at their position in the pros.
It helped give many players the extra motivation needed to gain weight when they were able to compare themselves to guys at the next level.
So, this is essentially the same research I would share with players, but now I’m sharing it with you. I took the 8 25-man active rosters for the 2023 season (a few weeks just before the first week of the season), almost 200 players total and broke them down by position.
For this guide, I took an average of the heights and weights of the 19 active Goalies across the league. In addition, just for fun, I listed the tallest, shortest, heaviest and lightest Goalies as well. Go ahead and impress someone today with your newfound random lacrosse knowledge.
Average Height of a Pro Lacrosse Goalie
The average height of a Premiere Lacrosse League Goalie is 72.74 inches or right at 6’0 3/4″.
Average Weight of a Pro Lacrosse Goalie
The average weight of a Premiere Lacrosse League Goalie is 199.21 pounds.
Who Are The Tallest Goalies in the PLL?
There are a few pretty tall goalies in pro lacrosse – the 3 tallest guys are 6’5″ or taller.
- Matt DeLuca – 6’6″ – Waterdogs
- Brendan Krebs – 6’5″ – Whipsnakes
- Dillon Ward – 6’5″ – Waterdogs
Who are the Shortest Goalies in the PLL?
Lacrosse goalies come in all shapes and sizes with 3 goalies listed at 5’9″ or shorter.
- JD Colarusso – 5’8″ – Atlas
- Adam Ghitelman – 5’9″ – Cannons
- Brian Phipps – 5’9″ – Whipsnakes
Who are the Heaviest Goalies in the PLL?
There are four guys listed at 215 pounds or more.

There are only two goalies listed under 180 pounds.

Final Thoughts
In soccer, Goalies are some of the biggest players in the sport.
In lacrosse, there are some big goalies – Matt DeLuca at 6’6″ and 225 pounds could pass for an NFL Tight End. But, there are goalies of all sizes getting it done at the highest level. It’s a position that is dominated more by skill than just size.
