Average Height & Weight of NFL Offensive Linemen (2023-24)
I’ve been a collegiate sports performance coach for 20 years. One thing I always felt was effective was showing guys the heights and weights of players at their position in the NFL.
It helped give many players the extra motivation needed to gain weight when they were able to compare themselves to guys at the next level. Sometimes it was even a stark reality check for, say, tight ends who thought 210 pounds was ‘about average’ to play in the NFL. (Spoiler Alert: It’s not)
So, this is essentially the same research I would share with players, but now I’m sharing it with you. I took 53-man active rosters for the 2023 season (just after final cuts at the end of preseason), almost 1700 players total and broke them down by position.
For this guide, I took an average of the heights and weights of the 293 active Offensive Linemen (Tackles, Guards and Centers) across the league. In addition, just for fun, I listed the tallest, shortest, heaviest and lightest Offensive Linemen as well. Go ahead and impress someone today with your newfound random football knowledge.

2022 Data
This is the second season that I’ve posted this data and I thought it would be interesting to keep an ‘archive’, if you will, of past seasons to watch how the sizes of players evolve over the years.
So here are the numbers for the 2022 season including 290 active Offensive Linemen:
Average Size of NFL Offensive Linemen by Year
Year | Height (inches) | Weight |
---|---|---|
2022 | 76.88 | 314.82 |
2023 | 76.88 | 314.94 |
Tallest
There were 16 guys that were listed at 6’8″ in 2022 (all tackles by the way), but only two were listed over 6’8″.
- Caleb Jones – 6’9″ – Packers
- Dan Skipper – 6’9″ – Lions
Shortest
Only 3 guys out of 290 were listed at under 6’2″.
All 3 were guards.
- Aaron Brewer – 6’1″ – Titans
- Daniel Munyer – 6’1″ – Titans
- Shaq Mason – 6’1″ – Bucs
Heaviest
There were 5 guys listed at over 350 pounds – 4 tackles and 1 guard.
- Daniel Faalele – 380 pounds – Ravens

Here were the 3 lightest – all 290 and under.
- Aaron Brewer – 274 pounds – Titans
- Sean Harlow – 284 pounds – Cardinals
- Ryan Neuzil – 290 pounds – Falcons
Final Thoughts
So, what did I learn?
The Ravens seem to really love big offensive linemen. 3 of the 12 biggest offensive linemen in the NFL currently call Baltimore home.
- Daniel Faalele – 6’8″ 380 pounds
- Ben Cleveland – 6’6″ 370 pounds
- Kevin Zeitler – 6’4″ 339 pounds
The Big 10, who has a bit of a reputation for producing large offensive linemen, appear to live up to the hype. 6 of the 13 heaviest linemen currently in the NFL come from that conference.

I’ve done the same height and weight breakdown for other positions too including:
