Best Cornerback Broad Jumps at NFL Combine (Updated 2023)
I’ve always loved the NFL Combine. A series of events to evaluate the physical characteristics of the best college football players each year. It’s like field day when you were a kid, but with some of the best athletes in the world.
When I train players for the combine, one of the things we always do is look at previous years’ results to see how we stack up. It is a great tool for goal-setting and motivation.
This guide is simply me sharing this information with you. I went through all the previous NFL Combines (going back to 2008) to find the best Cornerback Broad Jumps of all time.
Note: These are the official NFL Combine times from NFL.com. Some resources online will also include pro-day numbers, but because there are so many other variables with pro-day numbers I’ve stuck strictly to the official reps from Indianapolis.

Notes
An insanely good broad jump might be even more impressive to see in person than maybe even a really fast 40 or a really good vertical jump.
Don’t believe me?
Do me a favor and go find a measuring tape, find an open spot on your floor and measure out 11 feet. That’s how far most of the guys listed above are jumping. Just look at how far 11 feet is when it’s measured out on the floor. It’s crazy! Now, if you’re feeling brave, take a jump at it and see how close you get.
Now, move the tape measurer to 12 feet and 3 inches, the length of Byron Jones’s jump in 2015. It’s truly amazing.
The third best broad jump ever for a corner is 11’3″ by Corey Ballentine from Washburn. Which may have you asking, “where is Washburn?”.
Washburn University is located in Topeka, Kansas and is home to the Washburn Ichabods football team. Am I telling you this just so I can share with you that there is a team called the Ichabods, named after 1868 financial backer Ichabod Washburn? Maybe. Okay, yes.
Washburn isn’t the only small school listed above. Lindenwood, the alma mater of Pierre Desir, may also be unfamiliar to many fans. The Lindenwood Lions is a recent FCS school (will officially be an active member for the 2023 season) located in St Charles, Missouri.
Final Thoughts
Keep in mind that not everyone that gets invited to NFL Combine actually jumps (although broad jumps along with running the 40 and vertical jumps are still heavily participated in by cornerbacks). So, some players that potentially could put up a big jump don’t have an official number on the record.
One thing everyone at the combine is basically guaranteed to get measured? Their height and weight.
Finally, don’t forget that there are many players each year that would have put up big numbers that don’t receive an NFL Combine invite. I’ve been at many pro days where some of the numbers our guys put up would have been top 5 or even top 3 at the combine that year.
